Great River Adventure...
To The Finish

In May 2024, Ed and Marla Patrias began an adventure of a lifetime. Ed has always wanted to boat from his dock on Lake Movil in Bemidji, MN to the Gulf of Mexico. They decided to turn it into a fundraiser for the Bemidji Community Food Shelf. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans and Ed and Marla had to stop the trip early. This year, they're finishing! Come along on their journey by joining the Great River Adventure Facebook page!

How it began...

2024 was the year of Ed Patrias’ big bucket list trip, the Great River Adventure. Ed has always wanted to boat from his dock on Lake Movil in Bemidji, MN to the Gulf of Mexico. The first part of the trip began on May 4, 2024 and part two will commence on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 south of Paducah, Kentucky at the Green Turtle Bay Marina, where they left off two years ago.

With a series of boats, Ed, Marla and a host of friends, will head out on the Tennessee River to the Tennessee - Tombigbee Waterway to the Mobile River. Their final takeout will be at Mobile Bay off the Gulf of Mexico.

Graciously, Ed and Marla decided a trip this big should benefit more than just them, so it’s also a fundraiser for the Bemidji Community Food Shelf, a critical community organization that Ed volunteers for. Join them as a virtual traveler on this great adventure by making a contribution to the Bemidji Community Food Shelf. With food insecurity at an all-time high, every gift - no matter the size - will have a significant impact on families who need our help.

Safe travels, Ed & Marla! Thank you for supporting BCFS!
